As a speech language therapist, you will be comfortable to work as a collaborative member of the education team, working to remove, reduce and/or overcome barriers to educational participation and achievement.

Being able to implement and monitor effective, efficient and equitable interventions whilst being able to provide developmental training programmes to assist educators and parents, families/whanau, caregivers working with children and young people with special education needs will also be something that you thrive on. 

In terms of the perfect applicant - an individual with a keen eye for detail would fit well in this environment as there will be a degree of analysis and reporting to identify key issues that would need addressing and action. Strong interpersonal skills and realistic judgement would be desired alongside the ability to take ownership of the role and all aspects involved.

Essential requirements for this role are a Bachelor of Speech Language Therapy and a specialist knowledge of early childhood development; together with the ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information that will assist in the development, provision and support of individual programmes in order to overcome barriers to learning.
