Author-it is the leading provider of on-premise and cloud-based products for authoring technical publications and pharmaceutical information. Their software is a component authoring solution, enabling enterprises to create content components, that are assembled into documents and reused across the organization. Component authoring reduces costs and Author-it is venture funded, and they have a number of opportunities after restructuring to grow the engineering team in New Zealand, with product planning, sales and marketing in international markets.

What you'll do

As a software tester, you will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and work on a team that partners with development and product team to ensure the highest level of quality in their product. The ideal candidate is a brilliant problem solver, a quick learner, an influencer, has high attentive to detail and an excellent written communicator. They have a passion for discovery! An excellent software tester will exhaust all options and permutations that the platform is capable of and push the software to its limits.

In this role you will be responsible for knowing the product, writing and documenting test cases, planning and executing tests based on analysis of each build/release, create and track defects, and produce reports on project status based on defects and testing status. You will also help to establish testing and quality assurance best practices that allow for others to join in on the process.

Priorities

  • Assess the needs of projects that are currently in flight and propose the kinds of tests that would be necessary to release with confidence
  • Write tests for the software that is currently in development and file defects
  • Develop a comprehensive testing strategy with increasing amounts of automation
  • Communicate regularly with PMs, Developers and Designers to ensure that they are releasing excellent quality work that meets internal requirements
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the Docuvera platform

    Skills & Requirements

    What you bring

    • 1+ years working with software development as quality engineer, tester, or business analyst
    • Detail oriented team player with effective planning, organization and execution skills
    • Ability to work effectively at a fast pace with cross functional departments
    • Innovative, proactive, and resourceful; committed to quality and continuous improvement
    • Ability to anticipate and mitigate challenges
    • Ability to use Agile practices to work and think iteratively through the testing/QA dimensions of software products and ship goals
    • Experience with defect tracking system such as Jira
    • Has the ability to deliver results by influencing team members
