Job description

A new leadership role within Sport NZ’s Intelligence Team has been created, with responsibility for leading the overall analytics and research work programme.

The successful candidate will need to bring together a team of researchers and analytics specialists to implement a comprehensive surveillance system for physical activity, play, active recreation and sport within New Zealand. The surveillance system will combine survey data, consumer data/insight, cross-government data sets, commercial information, etc…

Candidates for the role will need to have experience working with, managing and coordinating data and information from multiple sources. As an individual with a data background the candidate will also need to be comfortable with more traditional survey methods, and the capture and use of this information.

This pivotal role will help shape the future data and information environment within Sport NZ.

It is expected that candidates for the role will have a background in analytics, data science, or similar, with experience working with data from multiple sources and working with large survey datasets.

The preference is for the role to be Wellington based, but candidates from other locations will be considered. Relocation costs will be considered for candidates wishing to move to Wellington for the role. This area is focused on wellness rather than sport. There is no requirement for previous experience in either sport or wellness.
