Job description

Our client is based at a new high tech site in Hastings, Hawke's Bay and whilst the role is permanent and full time, will consider candidates who can support their operation on a part-time basis.

This high speed operation now needs Coater Operators to support their production and would suit candidates with transferable skills from the printing industry such as flexographic, gravure, offset lithography and traditional print backgrounds.

About the role:


  • Carry out assigned work to a high level of customer service, quality standards and in compliance with industry regulations and codes of practice.
  • Diagnose faults, problem solving, perform operational maintenance of machines and implement fixes as required.
  • Use setting guides, stops and other controls.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency is maintained at optimum levels and continually reviewed.
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed and promote safety as a number one priority.
  • Carry out equipment changeovers and optimise changeover methods.

    About you:


    • Engineering mechanical trade qualification or 2-3 years' experience operating a coating machine and working with lacquers and varnishes.
    • We will consider candidates with a similar level of experience and background in printing.
    • Experience of trouble shooting, fault diagnosis and problem solving in a high-speed manufacturing production environment.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude.
    • A team player with a high level of energy, determination and drive.
    • Excellent time management and a strong work ethic.
    • Trained or certified to work with hazardous and flammable chemicals will be an advantage.

      This is a technical role where every day is different, you'll need to be comfortable operating in a high-speed environment. Currently, this team requires people who can work 12-hour shifts, 4 days per week (morning shift for one week and nights for one week, alternating).

      The role comes with competitive pay rates including overtime as and when required. Relocation support will be considered for suitable candidates.
