NPI (New Product Introduction) Coordinator

Based in the Manawatu, they are leaders in the design and manufacturing of Fuel Dispensing and Vapour Recovery Systems for use on Fuel Forecourts in New Zealand, Australia and further a field. Reporting to the Production Manager, a new opportunity exists for an NPI (New Product Coordinator) to join their team. You will be responsible for leading new Product Introduction throughout the business and providing practical shop-floor assistance for LEAN/Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) initiatives, continuously pushing boundaries to create an environment where everyday problems lead to everyday innovation.

Key responsibilities include:

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Maintain a central register of scheduled Design Verification/Product Validation (DV/PV)
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure all data is ready in time for the assigned manufacturing slot
  • Chair meetings to review issues arising, delegating actions items and maintaining meeting minutes and records
  • Track issues from DV/PV and follow up on all action items to ensure they are completed
  • Before product release, arrange pre-production runs and perform video analysis on key processes to identify and address the "7 wastes"

    Reporting

    • Submit a monthly report on DV/PV progress; including progress, decisions required and any red flags
    • Identify and report on areas of Operational Risk (Quality, Cost, Reputation); recommending solutions based on facts and analysis, then implementing agreed mitigation plans
    • Submit a monthly report on Continual Improvement initiatives

      Continual Improvement

      • Constantly monitor and review Quality KPI's with Department Supervisors and Machine Operators. KPI's include yield rates, rework levels, machine efficiency and labour
      • Discuss KPI's that are sub-optimal, using problem solving tools to identity and address root causes
      • Contribute at daily departmental Whiteboard Meetings

        To be successful you will ideally have the following:

        • Extensive systems and process knowledge
        • Experience in a manufacturing environment
        • Ability to be resourceful within the terms of the role to meet short and long-term objectives
        • Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines
        • Effective time management to ensure completion of assigned tasks
        • Strong attention to detail
        • Able to coordinate across departments within the company
        • Ability to collect data and develop plans based on facts and analysis
        • Experience with integrated computer systems especially SAP in a manufacturing environment (desirable)
        • A high level of computer literacy in MS Word & Excel
