  • get involved in design as part of your next developer role!
  • BRILLIANT manager, FABULOUS work environment
  • Based in ICT site of high-profile government agency

About the Organisation

The employing organisation is a government agency. Their offices are based in the central city, close to the railway station.

They employ around 400 people in total. Their in-house IT group totals 25 people, since their IT infrastructure support is outsourced. You will be in a development-focused team of 12 people.

About the role

You will be reporting to the Technical Lead of the development team. You will be a member of a team of 12 people made up of developers, applications support analysts, business analysts and test analysts.

The role is a GREAT one because it is in a team that is big enough to be interesting - lots of project based activity, for instance - but small enough to mean you aren't just a cog in a wheel in a big, anonymous coding place.

A REAL PLUS is that you will have the chance to get involved with the design of applications as well as the development and delivery of them.

They work in a DevOps environment and use an Agile approach, without adhering to a strict Agile methodology.

What they are looking for in your CV:

  • Experience in development using Microsoft .NET. This is the backbone of their technology suite. They use C#, ASP.NET, Web API, WCF, SQL and Powershell, so that is the sort of technical background they are looking for.

NOTE: you don't need skills in ALL of those, just some of them!

  • Experience in working with web development using JavaScript, CSS, HTML5 and the like
  • Experience in working with ONE JavaScript framework - EITHER Angular OR React OR Knockout
  • Experience in unit and integration testing

You also need some understanding of SharePoint and its administration, configuration and development as they work extensively with this.

Some background of working with Azure based development would be helpful, but it is by no means essential.

As a personality, they are looking for someone who LOVES development and who ideally enjoys keeping up-to-date with the technology industry as a hobby as well as a career.

And if you like the idea of targeting your career on to a design and architecture path going forward - well, you won't find a better chance to do so than this.

Trust me - this is a rare opportunity to work in a professionally interesting and personally supportive and enjoyable work situation.

Sound good? It IS! Email your resume to me by clicking the 'apply now' button below or call Sue Saville on 04 471 5867 for more information. NOTE: the name of the hiring organisation cannot be released until such time as a CV has been received.
