Job description

Our client based in East Tamaki is looking for Medical Waste Machine Operators.

The medical plant is processing and sterilising the following waste: Biohazardous Waste, Blood and Body Fluid, Anatomical Waste, Hospital Bedding, Needles and Sharps.

Duties will involve but not limited to:

  • Responsible for running and operating machines
  • Assist in washing bins
  • lifting containers - about 10kgs
  • Cleaning your area and other parts of the plant
  • Palletising waste
  • Lining bins
  • Provide customer service when required
  • Participate and contribute in the monthly toolbox meetings

    Days - Monday to Friday

    Occasional Saturdays

    First week: 6.00 am to 3.30 pm then rotating weekly between 2 shifts.

    Morning Shift - 6.00 am to 2.30 pm

    Afternoon Shift - 12.30pm to 9.00pm

    Requirements:

    • Ability to handle medical waste and foul smell
    • Must be reliable and with a reliable form of communication
    • Display initiative - won't just stand around if it is not busy.
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to lift 15kgs comfortably

      All successful candidates will be trained and will include a buddy system to ensure safety and confidence within the workplace. Vaccinations for Triex for Hepatitis A+B and Tetanus will be organised before commencing work.

      To be considered in this role you must:

      • Have at least 2 contactable references
      • Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol tests
      • Return a satisfactory police report
