Our client is one of the fastest growing Telecommunications installation companies in NZ. They have an exciting opportunity for an experienced H&S Manager to join their team. This role is based in Christchurch, and requires someone who is capable of leading and executing a strong safety culture and the implementation of safety practices throughout the business.

You will have proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager, and have a real passion for all things safety. You will need to be able to speak up about things that matter and problem solve with the team. Your ability to do this will rely on you being able to develop excellent trust and respect with the crews, particularly the field managers, while working closely with the General Manager and department Managers.

You will split your time between the office and out in the field where you will work with Field Managers to ensure our workforce is aware of, and comply with, our HSEQ expectations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Enhancing the culture of 'Zero Harm', with all stakeholders throughout the business
  • Implement change and H&S initiatives
  • Provide professional advice and proactive leadership in the area of Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • Ensure a high standard of Health and Safety administration
  • Facilitate and present training for all employees in the areas of Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • Audit adherence of Safety Management standards
  • Facilitate incident investigations and conducting risk assessments
  • Lead injury management coordination and return to work programmes
  • Delivery of inductions
  • Tool box talks
  • Verification of competency
  • Facilitating of internal and external HSEQ audits and inspections.

    Essential Requirements:

    • 5+ years experience in a similar HSEQ role
    • Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Level 4)/NEBOSH International General Certificate) or similar
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Well-developed planning and organisational skills
    • Experience and knowledge of ACC Programme or similar
    • Analytical and reporting skills
    • Good knowledge of AS/NZS standards relating to HSEQ
    • Good level of competence in Microsoft suite

      Experience in Telecommunications; Qualifications in training (Train the Trainer/Assessor) and/or incident inestigations (ICAM) and/or lead auditing would be a great advantage.
