Our client based in South Auckland is looking for a Health, Safety & Policy Advisor.


The purpose of this position is to provide Health & Safety and policy support and advice to the business ensuring the best H & S best practice is delivered effectively to the organisation and all Company policies are kept up to date in accordance with current legislation and communicated out to wider business. Develops and administers H & S programs, all policies and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the Company.

This would suit someone who has worked in HR in the past but has crossed over into H&S.

This will be very much a stand alone role, but will report into HR. They need someone who can engage with all of the workforce from GM level to Operators. Someone who can influence and ensure buy in from everyone in the business (particularly the managers), they will need to drive the H & S culture across the business. They need someone who can use their initiative, is organised and can plan ahead accordingly.

Even though this role will be based at Paerata due to it being their largest site, the successful candidate will be expected to work across the whole business so they will also travel to Head Office and Avondale as required.

KEY RESULT AREAS
The position of Health, Safety & Policy Advisor encompasses the following major key accountability areas:

  • Ensure H & S processes are maintained to acceptable standards to ensure we are always keeping up to date with legislation and requirements
  • Lead health and safety culture and resources within the organisation
  • Develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures
  • Develop and manage training and development systems

    WHAT YOU NEED:

    ESSENTIAL

    • A formal tertiary qualification in H&S
    • At least 3 years' experience in a dedicated Health & Safety role
    • Understanding of Health and Safety Act and relevant NZ legislation and compliance
    • A passion for H&S excellence
    • Experience in developing Company policies
    • Excellent Microsoft office skills (databases, Word & Excel) especially in regard to developing and working with templates

      DESIRABLE

      • Health and Safety experience in the food or dairy manufacturing industry
      • Experience in an HR coordination role
      • Experience in a training & development coordination role
      • Understanding of employment legislation
