Shift Mechanical Fitter & Turner

Manukau, Auckland Based

Urgently looking for a trade qualified mechanical fitter who has experience in fast paced manufacturing industry. This is a long-term permanent role based in Manukau. The main objective of the role is to maintain and repair plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations with a focus on upholding safety and maximising production in the Mechanical Operations of the company's manufacturing facility.

The machinery necessitates precision setting, a high detail to attention and a clear understanding of the Safety implications to those operating the machines, those near the machines, the regular maintenance needed of the machines and possess a good degree of flexibility around the plant needs. These traits have to tie in with the Shift pattern of the plant, which is a 4 on 4 off - 12-hour shift encompassing 2 days then 2 nights.

You will need a Nationally Recognized Fitter Turners Qualification, a licence to operate a 12-ton Fork Hoist, have HAZNO level Chemical Handling, pass the regular Drug Testing, have an up to date First Aid Training, Heights and Confined space Training along with the above as a minimum.

To be successful, you need to have the following:

  • Strong mechanical diagnostic problem-solving skills
  • Excellent fitting, fabrication and machining skills
  • Have the ability to effectively perform preventative maintenance checks
  • You enjoy being part of a team environment but have ability to work unsupervised
  • Tertiary qualification or Trades Qualification/background
  • An uncompromising attitude towards H&S
  • Require the ability to convert the machinery between the variety of different Can profiles and sizes
