Job description
As a Mechanic you will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of construction equipment, plant and machinery on the Central Interceptor Project.
What you will be doing:
- Diagnose faults and repair construction equipment, plant and machinery
- Understand plans, drawings and spare parts manuals
- Create appropriate maintenance schedules and perform routine preventative maintenance
- Prepare documentation and procedures for the start-up, assembly and disassembly of machinery
- Compile daily reports and record all completed work for shift handover
- Installation and commission of equipment, plant and machinery
The successful candidate will have:
- 2-4 years' experience in the maintenance and repair of construction equipment, plant and machinery
- Hands on experience in either diesel motors, pneumatic and/or hydraulic power packs
- Skills and practical knowledge in compressed air/water/oil and ARC welding processes
- Relevant qualifications
- Experience working on heavy civil infrastructure projects
- Positive and pro-active approach toward teamwork
- Good communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to work under pressure, determine priorities, whilst being safety conscious
- Construct Safe ideal but not essential
- Flexibility to work shifts ideal
- Experience working in the Civil space
The Central Interceptor is New Zealand's largest ever Wastewater Project consisting of close to 20km of tunnels, more than 17 shafts, a major pump station and substantial wastewater management and network infrastructure works. The project is located in Auckland with an approximate 6 year construction period.
