Job description
OneStaff Rotorua is currently seeking an experienced Planer/Timber Machinist for on going work in a Timber product Manufacturers based just outside of Rotorua. The position has an immediate start for the right candidate with good rate of pay with perks (meal allowances) with ongoing 40+ hours per week. Tasks for this role may vary from day to day so requires someone who is adaptable, quick thinking and has a strong knowledge towards Health and Safety standarts and requirements. You will be expected to effectively co-ordinate with a large well established team in order to complete efficient and accurate production of products. This job is physically demanding and would suit someone who is fit, healthy and can complete most manual handling tasks.
Your Duties:
Carry out machine setups & related tasks as required.
Check timber is manufactured to right size & Quality
Setting up & operating specialised woodworking machinery to produce finished products
Liaise with Supervisor on any operational /mechanical issues within machine centre
Optimise the recovery of timber & make manual decisions on cutting.
Complete and identify preventative maintenance
Liaise with supervisors and staff to ensure all product specifications and KPI's are being met or exceeded
Ensure both In-feed & Out-feed areas operating properly and safely.
Complete accurate production notes and records
Packing and strapping pallets correctly and efficiently
Proactively report hazards in the workplace
Ensuring all Health and Safety measures are adhered to
QUALIFICATIONS:
To succeed in this job the individual must be able carry out all the above duties satisfactorily and have the following:
Education and/or Experience:
3-4 years secondary school, mechanically minded, experience with timber processing machinery.
Certificates, Licenses and registrations:
Level 3 -4 Timber machinist, Diploma Wood Manufacturing adventageous but not required
Mathematical skill:
Secondary school maths, be able to make calculations & take measurements.
Reasoning ability:
Identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities, choosing an effective course of action or solution.
