Our client based in Opotiki has an exciting role available for an experienced Coolstore/CA Manager to join their tight knit team.

The job:

Managing conventional cool storage and controlled atmosphere coolstores for all classes of fruit, your role is to ensure best practice procedures are undertaken (e.g. temperatures), and ensure orders are prepared in time with correct documentation for loadout.

You will be responsible for:

• leading and managing the coolstore team
• creating an environment where staff are valued, coached, encouraged, and empowered to continuously improve
• Meeting site and company KPI targets.
• Managing other tasks during the off season, such as repairs and maintenance.
• Embracing all aspects of health and safety including demonstrating and encouraging employee engagement, awareness and responsibility for Health and Safety, compliance with Food Safety and other policies and procedures
• Assisting in training staff to appropriate H&S standard - ensuring compliance with safe operating procedures
• Understanding and recognising key coolstore/controlled atmosphere and site hazards

  Key Skills & Attributes

  • Ideally have experience leading and organising teams
  • Experience in a logistics or coolstore role
  • Attention to detail
  • Good level of computer literacy including Excel, knowledge of Fresh cool and web based programmes including Power BI would be great
  • People skills - effective communication with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work to deadlines and make sound decisions while working under pressure
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills
  • Ability to set, understand and achieve cost, productivity, quality, safety targets and KPI's.
  • Appropriate forklift skills and licence
  • Flexibility - ability to work extended hours and weekends as required

    This role does expect you to spend time on the floor so there are physical demands.

    The hours can be big - 60-70 hours during peak season
