Colour Consultant

Sales & Business Development

Job description

Colour consultants understand how people respond to colour, but they also understand how people want to feel in their home. They can transform boring white walls into brilliant, creativity inspiring offices, or warm and friendly dining rooms.

It's all about mixing and matching colours with people.

To become a colour consultant you must be a colour expert. This means understanding the power of colours, colour trends, psychology, design theory, and visual effects.

First and foremost, you'll need to know your colour theory. By understanding how we perceive and experience colour, you'll be able to design spaces ranging from relaxing bedrooms to energy-enhancing workout areas, all tailored to your clients' needs!

You'll need to understand the emotional impact of colour combinations-where colour psychology comes in-as well as how to apply them to multiple design elements.

You need to know how to use colours to achieve certain goals.

You'll also need to develop interpersonal skills since the whole process is a collaboration between yourself and your clients.

You're using your expertise to achieve their goals. Being able to customize your advice to each individual case is crucial. Just because a certain colour or room style is trendy doesn't mean it should be applied to every job you get!

Everyone has different tastes and you need to take that into consideration.

This role is offering a very competitive hourly rate.

Working every 2nd Saturday - standard hours are 10AM-3PM - though there is some flexibility there.

A formal qualification in colour, interior design or prior industry knowledge is crucial for the role.

If you are available immediately and have all the skills required then don't hesitate to apply.

Unfortunately, if you're colour blind, colour consulting might not be the right niche for you.

Applicants for this position should have NZ Residency or a valid NZ work permit and currently based in Dunedin.

If you have the skills and attributes we are looking for then hit the APPLY NOW button and attach your covering letter and CV.
