Job description

The role of a Cloud Engineer is to assess project needs to select appropriate Cloud server technology, storage technology, containerisation technologies, network elements, load balancing elements, LDAP-based Authentication and Authorisation solutions, and catalogue items from cloud providers. In addition, the Cloud Engineer will, define the infrastructure solution of a project. The role is expected to interpret MSD’s ‘cloud-right’ policy and use it to execute on infrastructure solutions for proj ects.

Delivery of infrastructure solutions will make for a challenging work environment in a rapidly changing landscape. Engagement and collaboration with the Client's business, technical teams and vendors will be key to the success of this role in ensuring that the correct balance between users, technology and security requirements are achieved.

This is a 6 month contract in Auckland CBD.

  • Development of implementation CI/CD scriptsprivileged access admin and assist
  • Automation (scripting) of configuration deployments and changes

About you:

  • 5+ years’ experience of multi domain infrastructure Design and Architecture
  • 2+ years’ experience of in depth, multi domain architecture and design for IaaS solutions an advantage
  • 5+ years of experience developing and implementing architectures that are compliant with Industry Security Frameworks (e.g. NZISM, PSR).
  • Familiarity with Public cloud offerings in the comparative area an advantage
  • Knowledge of Jenkins, BitBucket, AWS CodeDeploy , CodeCommit, CodePipeline and IBM Cloud ToolChains are highly desirable
  • Network Design on All of Government (AoG) IaaS
  • Infrastructure (virtual hardware, operating system, IaaS) design and configuration.
  • Database – Oracle / RAC, ADG, SQL Server Always On, NoSQL.
  • Middleware – WLS / WAS /WMB/IIB/API Management.
  • Service design on IaaS: Backup, VM and file replication, PAM., AD replication, LDAP replication, patching, monitoring. 
  •   Security: patching, monitoring, incident reporting, SEIM.
