Academic Specialist

Education and Training

Job description

If keeping up-to-date with trends in distant and digital learning is a passion, and new innovations in ODFL design and delivery excite you, then The Open Polytechnic is where you need to be. We’re looking for a visionary educator with a strong reputation in the adult, community or tertiary sectors to  ensure our Foundation and Bridging offerings continue to reflect the sector’s best practice now and in the future.

If knowing you have made a difference at the end of each and every day is important to you, you’re going to love being part of this Learning Design and Development Directorate. This is a place where ambition and vision become achievements and innovations.

With the support and backing of the Executive Director for Learning Design and Development, you’ll provide academic and curriculum leadership for the foundation and bridging programmes, keeping abreast of academic developments, creating and enriching curriculum requirements, and collaborating with your wider team on the development of course content, assessments and materials. You’ll also provide sector leadership, connecting with and contracting sector experts with vocational knowledge to ensure your programmes continue to be responsive to the needs of learners and employers and rapidly changing workplaces.

Your success will rest on your senior academic experience, ability to quickly establish rapport and credibility, and agile approach. Current sector knowledge and expertise backed by a demonstrable passion for discovering and embracing new innovations in ODFL design and delivery will make you a stand out for this role. A post graduate qualification is highly desirable; research and scholarship background and recognised sector networks are essential.

If you appreciate flexibility, crave innovation and are seeking an environment that encourages and rewards initiative and innovation, The Open Polytechnic delivers all this and more. You can look forward to a wide range of benefits including free parking, a subsidised cafe (with great coffee!), school holiday programmes, a fabulous staff social club and free group fitness classes. You will join an diverse, multi-national team with rich experience and benefit from ongoing Continuing Professional Development in ODFL and support for your ongoing research and scholarship.

We know you’re naturally curious — it’s one of the things that make you perfect for this role. So call Annie O’Keefe now to find out more.
